- Volunteer in the community
- Decide if your career plan involves college, a branch of the military or the work force
- Consider a part-time job
- Meet with someone in the College and Career Center to discuss your future plans
- Consider internships or job shadow opportunities in possible fields of interest
Preparing for College
- Review your SAT and ACT scores. Sign up to retake the test, if necessary.
- Sign up for Tualatin High College Visits through Naviance to meet with representatives from colleges you might be interested in attending.
- Consider college options and select a college which is the best fit for you based on field of study available, location, cost, and activities
- Apply to colleges in the fall/early winter
- Look at financial aid and scholarship options
Preparing for Military
- Explore the branches and decide which may be the best fit for you
- Talk to a recruiter to determine if you qualify
- Take the ASVAB test
- Work with a recruiter to enlist in the branch you are interested
Preparing for the Work Force
- Consider a trade skill like Electrician, Plumber or Beautician
- Create your resume
- Explore companies where you might want to work
- Create a cover letter
- Identify people you can use as references on job applications and obtain their contact information
- Practice interviewing skills
