things to do your junior year
- Set goals for life after high school and identify a career path
- Decide if your plan involves college, a branch of the military or the work force
- Stay involved in TuHS clubs and teams and start taking leadership roles
- Record your community service hours including the date of service, hours worked, organization and a brief description of the service you provided
- Continue to focus on a strong GPA or work to improve your GPA
- Meet with someone in the College and Career Center to discuss your future plans
- Consider internships or job shadow opportunities in possible fields of interest
If College is in your future:
- Prepare for the ACT or SAT test by taking study classes or using study guides
- Take the ACT (no need to register as it is automatically given at Tualatin High in late winter/early spring each year). You only need to take the ACT or SAT - all colleges accept either test
- Explore Naviance Supermatch to identify possible colleges of interest
- Plan to visit colleges over Spring Break and the summer – look for College Open Houses or call the college Admissions Office and set up a tour.
- Attend a College Fair to explore college options - events are held virtually throughout the year and in the fall in Portland
- Once you receive your SAT and ACT scores, evaluate if you want to improve your score. Sign up to retake the test, if necessary
- If you are considering a college that uses the Common App (application process used by over 700 national colleges), look for the essay prompts late spring to start on your essays (will be available on your TuHS College and Career Center College Application Essay Page)
